A Grand Junction engineering consulting firm is now qualified to provide third-party verification services for a broader range of greenhouse gas emission projects.

Ruby Canyon Engineering is qualified to verify three additional Climate Action Reserve (CAR) sectors: nitrous oxide, ozone-depleting substances and landfills in Mexico.

“In the past, we’ve been verifying mostly methane-related projects. These new CAR protocols encompass a variety of other greenhouse gases and broaden the range of sectors for offset projects,” said Mike Coté, president of Ruby Canyon Engineering.

The firm offers a range of technical consulting services to companies related to quantifying, managing and reducing so-called greenhouse gases believed to cause global warming. The firm als offers third-party validation and verification for credits and offsets for greenhouse gas and carbon emissions in the United States and internationally.

With the new verification capabilities, Ruby Canyon Engineering can provide third-party verification services for nitrous oxide abatement projects at nitric acid production facilities, the destruction of such ozone-deleting substances as appliance refrigerants and building insulation foams, and methane gas at Mexican landfills.

“With these new verification qualifications, we are now a full-service validating and verifying service provider,” Coté said.
