Grand Junction, Colo. (Jan. 4, 2011) – Ruby Canyon Engineering (RCE), an engineering consulting company whose main focus is greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, received its American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation program requirements and those set forth in ISO 14065: 2007 Greenhouse Gases. Recently, RCE has met the requirements for GHG validation and verification bodies for project level scope extensions for Groups 1 (fuel combustion), 2 (industrial processes) and 5 (livestock). RCE received the accreditation extensions in early December, 2010.

As an ANSI-accredited, third-party GHG validating/verifying body – the first in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region – the company,  is accredited under ISO 14065 to perform verifications of assertions related to GHG emissions and removals at the “organizational level”, including the following groups:

  1. General
  2. Manufacturing
  3. Power Generation
  4. Mining and Mineral Production
  5. Metals Production
  6. Chemical Production
  7. Waste

RCE may also conduct verifications of assertions related to GHG emission reductions and removals at the “project level” including the following groups:

  1. GHG emission reductions from fuel combustion
  2. GHG emission reductions from industrial processes (non-combustion, chemical reaction, fugitive and other)
  3. Livestock
  4. Waste Handling and Disposal

After 2010, nearly all GHG programs and registries will require that all third-party GHG validation/verification services be performed by an ISO 14065 accredited entity.

Ruby Canyon Engineering President Mike Coté said, “Adding these accreditations to our ISO 14065 verification body status only increases our abilities to serve a wider range of clients around the world.”
